Home VisitsDoctor's bag

There are times when you cannot reach the surgery. This maybe because you are housebound or because you are very unwell and cannot leave the house. In these circumstances it will be possible to arrange for a doctor to call. Please phone the surgery as early as possible in the morning or before 10.00am so the doctors can arrange their visits.

Some days there will be a doctor who is allocated the job of doing most of the visits. In this case you will probably be seen in the morning. On other days the visits usually have to wait until the doctors have completed their morning surgery - about 12:30 to 13:00.

Your GP will only visit you at home if they think that your medical condition requires it and will also decide how urgently a visit is needed. Please bear this in mind and be prepared to provide suitable details to enable the doctor to schedule house calls

You can also be visited at home by a community nurse if you are referred by your GP. You should also be visited at home by a health visitor if you have recently had a baby or if you are newly registered with a GP and have a child under five years.
